I Always Hated this Song

Just a quick post today, remember this song from the 80's? Well I guess it is stirring up quite the battle.

Whales!

I love whales, especially Humpbacks, and locally two have been spotted in our Sacramento river. This story saddens me though. These two, a mom and her baby, are lost and disoriented and one appears to be injured. There are officials and scientists involved in trying to help these two find their way back to the ocean. As I mentioned this story saddens me because they are lost, there is nothing in the river for them to eat and they can not survive long in those type of waters. You can read their story at the above link. At least officials are keeping boats and people away from them to help protect them and I heard this morning some scientists were on there way to help figure out how to guide them back.

A Subject Close to My Heart

I was reading an article on Foxnews.com/health. This one touches me closely. Not only is this family from the community I live in but one of the fears I have is that this will be what Baby MM will have to go through. Autism.

A brief excerpt on baby Jacob, you can link to the rest of the article above.

"We used to say it was like it burned his eyes to look at you," said his mother, Tamie Day of Antelope, Calif. "It was like a physically painful thing for him. It wasn't just that he wasn't looking at us; he was purposefully looking away."

Day, who has a psychology degree, suspected her son might have autism. She enrolled him in a study, published in April, that found that babies like Jacob are indeed at high risk for autism if they do not respond to their names by 12 months of age.

Jacob, now 3 1/2, has made meaningful progress thanks to treatment, his mother said, including a breakthrough moment at age 2. It still makes her cry to recall it.

She was giving Jacob a bath, playing the "itsy bitsy spider" finger game, when he looked up and really gazed into her eyes. "He was smiling up at me and I realized that was the first time he had done that," she said. "He has gorgeous blue eyes, and I was like, `My God, your eyes are so beautiful."

The promising signs is that Baby MM shows none of the early detection signs that little Jacob did. It still does weigh on the back of my mind and only time can tell what Baby MM's life will bring him. He is such and joyful and smiley boy and every day with him is a blessing.

Farewell to a TV Icon

Do you remember where you were in your life in 1972? I don't, I was only 4 years old at that time. That was 35 years ago and this week will bring the beginning to the end, of a the longest running game show on TV, for it's long time host Bob Barker. The Price is Right is an American tradition of game shows. Late last year Bob Barker announced his intention to retire. This will end his career with the show after 35 years. No final word on who his succesor will be but I think there is speculation and I don't think they can ever really replace Bob Barker. Stay tuned for this weeks prime time specials featuring Bob Barker and a history of his TV days. Bob Barker's last show is to air in June.

Long live The Price is Right!

What Does Blogging Mean to You?

Do you know the definition of blog? This was an interesting question posed by me to me. Did you know the definition is actually in the dictionary and that this year Blogosphere is being added to the new edition. Here is the definition:

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A blog (short for web log) is a website where entries are made and displayed in a reverse chronological order.

Blogs provide commentary or news on a particular subject, such as food, politics, or local news; some function as more personal online diaries. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, web pages, and other media related to its topic. The ability for readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of most early blogs. Most blogs are primarily textual although some focus on photographs (photoblog), sketchblog, videos (vlog), or audio (podcasting), and are part of a wider network of social media.

The term "blog" is a portmanteau, or, in other words, a blend of the words web and log (Web log). "Blog" can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog.

Tell me what blogging means to you, I really want to here from you. The top of this page is basically what blogging is to me.

Blogiversary!

Yep, two years today. WOW! has it been that long? A lot has changed since that first post. A lot has changed in the the last year. Baby MM has gone from this:

To this:

I hope to continue blogging for a long time to come and maybe become as popular as some of my favorite fellow bloggers out there. If not I'll have fun along the way.

Do You Know Where Your Burger Comes From?

How do you like your burger? Mine well done with cheese, mayo and bacon, hold the pickles. I love Burgers! Had one yesterday for lunch. Well apparently there is a burger battle going on as to where the burger came from. Now it is heading to the Wisconsin Senate.

Three communities claim to be the home of the hamburger: Seymour, Wis.; Athens, Texas, and New Haven, Conn.

Now, Wisconsin lawmakers are getting into the beef. The state Assembly has passed a resolution declaring the burger was born in 1885 when Charles "Hamburger Charlie" Nagreen of Seymour started calling his ground beef patty-in-a-bun a hamburger.

I Like Rush!

Rush Limbaugh billboard near I-83 defaced

"It looks like they took globs of paint and threw it on his face. It looks great. It did my heart good," said Murrow, who admittedly is not a Limbaugh fan.

Kurt L. Kocher, chief spokesman for the city's Department of Public Works and Murrow's supervisor, took issue with Murrow's statement.

I think things like this just fuel Rush's fire to point out the idiocy of the US. I am sure Rush is just heartbroken over the fact that he has been defaced. NOT!

Mrs Media Matters Returns

Wow, it's been awhile hasn't it. I am coming up on my 2 year blogging anniversary and I am excited to get back into the ring. Yes, sad to say our computer has hit some bumps and snags and I am so busy at work I never seem to be able to get online for anything anymore. The computer at home is up and running finally. I am taking a short break now to blog to all my loyal readers. I hope you haven't forgotten about me out there. Well I have a treat for you today. Here is the Baby MM in one of my favorite pics.

Can you just see how adorable he is I know this is almost two months old but it is so cute. Dave does have a more recent one on his site.
