Starbucks and the War!

Why does everybody tend to believe everything they read in the junk mail? I get these junk e-mails all the time and the first thing is I don't forward them and then the second thing I do is verify that it is hoax or just fiction. Well some of you out there may be familiar with this email or not. I personally don't drink coffee and don't believe I have ever stepped foot in a Starbucks, but they are not the bad guy.

Below is the acutal email that was sent.

DON'T DELETE!!
Subject: STARBUCKS!!!

Guess I will not be drinking Starbucks any more.Recently Marines in Iraq wrote to Starbucks because they wanted to let them know how much they liked their coffees and to request that they send some of it to the troops there.Starbucks replied, telling the Marines thank you for their supportof their business, but that Starbucks does not support the war, nor anyone in it, and that they would not send the troops their brand of coffee. So as not to offend Starbucks, maybe we should not supportthem by buying any of their products! As a war vet writing to fellow patriots, I feel we should get thisout in the open. I know this war might not be very popular with some folks, but that doesn't mean we don't support the boys on the ground
fighting street-to-street and house-to-house for what they and I believe is right. If you feel the same as I do then pass this along, or you can discard it and no one will never know. Thanks very much for your support. I know you'll all be thereagain when I deploy once more.

"Semper Fidelis."
Sgt Howard C. Wright
1st Force Recon Co1st Plt PLT

PLEASE DON'T DELETE THIS .... ALLOW IT TO BE PASSED TO ALL IN MEMORY OFALL THE TROOPS WHO HAVE DIED SO THAT WE MAY HAVE THE RIGHT TO CHOOSE

Well this was a real email complaint that was sent to Starbucks, but this was not the truth about Starbucks.

See the truth here! Also the SGT's other email.

Moral of the Story: Don't believe every sad sob story email you receive. Most of that chain stuff is hoaxes, urban legends and just plain baloney and they clog up cyberspace.

Kudos to Wal-Mart

You know I really can't stand the place. I am an ex-employee who knows they are not as great as they would like everybody to think they are. My husband on the other hand loves them. I shop there because it is cheap not because it is a feel good place. My budget constraints do not allow me to shop at Target, where I would rather be. Anyway I will have to give Wal-Mart credit for this and also to Macy's and Kohls. Thanks for not being that very annoying PC!!

Wal-Mart Returns To 'Christmas' Marketing

This holiday season, Wal-Mart isn't trumpeting big bargains only. It's also bringing Christmas" back into its marketing, after several years of playing down the term.

Wal-Mart said Thursday that it will launch its first Christmas-specific TV ad in several years, feature Christmas shops, previously called Holiday Shops, and increase the number of seasonal merchandise labeled "Christmas" instead of "holiday" by 60 percent.

Macy's is adding Christmas signage in all of its department stores and Kohl's is playing up Christmas this year in its TV, print and radio advertising, according to Vicki Shamion, a Kohl's spokeswoman.

Of course there is one store that doesn't want to play along and probably several others.

"We are going to continue to use the term holiday because there are several holidays throughout that time period, and we certainly need to be respectful of all of them," said Dawn Bryant, a spokeswoman at Best Buy Co. Inc., whose advertising omits any reference to Christmas.

Baby Media Matters New Hat

Mommy has got me all ready for Winter with the new hat she made me. See how it brings out my blue eyes. Just ignore the spit-up stain on my shirt. Mommy missed that when she was taking my picture, she probably should have put on a clean shirt first. I think she was excited that I kept my hat on long enough to have my picture taken.
