Gotta Love RUSH!!

The left hating right winger! I was in the car on my way to get somthing to eat for lunch so I didn't get to hear much of what he was talking about but I got the gist. He was talking about Elizabeth Vargas and her new story on SuperVolcano and about the doom and gloom left. Apparantly it was all about what you would do on you last day of earth. He was making fun of a lot of the people and saying the same thing over and over. His comment was" what would you do if an ABC camera was in your face asking you what you would do on the last day of your life(if you knew it was coming)." "Don't know, never thought about it, now get out of my face." He was talking about how the left is all about this disaster thing. Apparantly our biggest volcano is in Yellowstone and that it could blow anyday now. It is suppose to blow ever 600,000 years and it has been 630,000 so it's late. Then he proceeded to talk about all the things that have happened in the last 30,000 years. He says we still aren't too sure who built the pyramids. Egyptians or Aliens. I think he was making a joke. I thought it was funny. The point is, I like Rush, think he is right-on with what he says. The clincher the left is all about disaster and what-if's. Not very good about the here and now and that is the scary part.

On our way to Florida until next Wednesday. Bye All, Baby Media Matters first plane trip.

Impossible

Believe me sometimes it felt that way too! What am I talking about? A puzzle and it is called an "Impossibles." If you like puzzles I suggest you take this one on for size. Mr MM does not like puzzles but he helped me some with this and so did a friend. I did most of the sweat, tears and back breaking load of it though. ARRGHHH! This puzzle has no straight edge border pieces and five extra pieces that go nowhere. This is the picture of that puzzle complete to prove it was done. If you are a puzzle lover you should give it a go! This puzzle was given to me and I don't know where to actually by one. I guess you can get it where puzzles are sold.

Now I will pass this on to my soon-to-be sister-in-law. She likes puzzles a lot.

Fathers and Football

Footballer Father Fights NCAA Eligibility Rule

Player Took Time Off When His Child Was Born

LAWRENCE, Kan. -- A University of Kansas football player is tackling the National Collegiate Athletic Association, Kansas City television station KMBC reported.

In 2001, KU defensive tackle Eric Butler took time off when his daughter was born, and now he wants more playing time.

A NCAA representative said the rule is for pregnant female athletes who physically can't particpate in sports and that men don't have the same issue.

Mrs Media Matters wants your opinion on this issue, do you think Male and Female athletes should get the same amount of time off and both be eligible for another year of eligibilty. I do. Laws now give father's the oppurtunity to stay home for bonding time with their babies and the law protects their jobs. Why can't that apply to eligbility for a team sport.

Hot Dogs!

Gotta love those things. Boiled, Grilled or just out of the fridge package. It's an all-American tradition to have a Hot Dog. Corn Dogs at the fair. Polish dogs from Sam's Club. Hot Dogs from the picnic. My favorite of course the Chili cheese dog with onions. Yum Yum. Well guess what. A new study out says that Hot Dogs can cause cancer. You know what everything has a potential to cause cancer today.

Everyone knows hot dogs aren't exactly healthy for you, but in a new study chemists have found they contain DNA-mutating compounds that might boost one's risk for cancer

Mirvish and his colleagues examined hot dogs because past research had linked them with colon cancer.

Hot dogs are preserved with sodium nitrite, which can help form chemicals known as N-nitroso compounds, most of which cause cancer in lab animals

You can read the rest of the article from link above. I really don't think this is going to keep me from eating hot dogs and the article even says you shouldn't stop eating them because of this study.

Cell Phones and Bugs

Germ bugs that is. I wish I had read this article before the radio trivia question this morning and I would have gotten the answer right. Anyway, the article is on the study of germs and how many live on your cell phone. Made me pull out the sanitizing wipes I use on my desk at work and wipe my phone down. Yuck.

The reports said that tens of thousands of bacteria live on each square inch of a phone, including Staphylococcus aureus, which can cause pimples or boils, and even pneumonia and meningitis.

Cell phone handsets are covered in more bacteria than shoes, door handles or toilets, according to a study reported on various sources around the Internet.

Some suggested cleaning phones with antibacterial wipes to stop the spread of germs.

More on the Debit Fraud Story........

It seem more is coming to light about this case. It makes me worry about using my debit card anywhere.

Concern Mounts Over Debit Card Fraud Case
Dollar Tree Customers Report Money Stolen

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Concern is mounting as the scope of a debit card fraud case continues to grow.

Hundreds of Sacramento and Modesto consumers who shopped at Dollar Tree stores said they later had money stolen from their bank accounts.

The Sacramento County Sheriff's Department said they've received about 40 formal complaints so far. Federal, state and local investigators are working the case in California and Oregon.

University of California, Davis professor and researcher Dr. Matthew Bishop's specialty is computer security. Bishop has also written a text book on the subject.

He said stores and their customers can have financial data stolen in many ways -- from tapping into banking systems to intercepting wireless data transmissions.

Web sites for computer hackers offer products and programs for legal and illegal activities. Machines to encode credit card magnetic strips are hot items.

You can read the rest of the article in my link above. A whole new meaning to "buyer beware."

Baby Media Matters is 3 months old today and look how happy he is about it.

Notice I turned on the date stamp for the camera too! Duh. Kitty, I think I have 3 different days of pictures with him in this onsie too. It will also be one of my treasured outfits I save.

This is Scary to Think About.

I use my ATM card for just about all purchases. I never carry cash anymore. But I think next time I go to the dollar store I will.

Victims Come Forward In Dollar Tree Fraud Case
Federal, State, Local Authorities Investigating

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Dozens of local victims have come forward in a
massive debit card fraud investigation involving Dollar Tree stores.

Federal, state and local investigators are looking into hundreds of fraud complaints from people who suddenly found hundreds of dollars stolen from their bank accounts by a sophisticated ring of electronic bandits who recreated ATM debit cards and are believed to have stolen more than $600,000.

There are 150 victims in Modesto who all shopped at a Dollar Tree store and another 200 victims in southern Oregon -- all because sophisticated electronic thieves are stealing and decoding financial data from Dollar Tree purchases.
