I conducted an experiment yesterday, but didn't realize it until after the fact. I wore my "McCain-Palin" campaign t-shirt all day, out and about. The first part of the day I stayed in the city. My wife and I live in a citified suburb of Sacramento. A Sacramento-area hospital recently estimated that 5 million people live in the Sacramento region. And our neighborhood is definitely included in that. While our home is in a residential enclave, we remain in the heart of the industrialized, lower-rent part of the urban area. During our morning errand runs to the grocery store, Walmart, etc. I received no comments about my campaign t-shirt. No one even seemed to notice it, much less make eye contact with me or comment on it. In the afternoon, my son and I traveled approximately 40 minutes outside of the city to a more rural area of a nearby county. We were attending the high school footbal contest of my nephew Chris. In the rural community, whether at the game or in the market for a soda, I received numerous compliments on my shirt. Both adults and teens pointed at my shirt and said "Nice shirt," or "Yes!!!," or "I love your shirt." How refreshing that was for me. It's nice to know that in the church-going, gun-using, bitter clinging heartland the more conservative ticket of Sen. McCain and Gov. Palin is well-received, and even cheered.

If you are a praying person, and I hope that you are, I encourage you to pray for the results of the presidential election. As I see it, the following swing states are the key to deciding who will win the electoral college. Conservatives need these states to swing into the McCain-Palin column to keep a Republican in the White House. Here are some prayer suggestions:

1) Colorado - pray that the all western-states ticket of McCain-Palin, and in particular the Governor's outdoorsy lifestyle, will appeal to the undecided voters in this adventurous outdoorsy state. And that Christian conservatives in the Colorado Springs area will be heavily motivated.

2) Pennsylvania - pray that the NRAs anti-Obama ads, coupled with Gov. Palin's strong track record as a hunter and gun owner will bring out the rural areas of Pennsylvania in large numbers for the Republican ticket. And that Joe Biden's "no coal plants in America" comment hurts the Democrats significantly amongst families in the steel industry.

3) Virginia - pray that this state stays in the red column and that rumors of Democrat-influenced voter fraud are stifled.

4) Minnesota - pray that the success of the Republican convention, and the economic boost it provided this state, lingers in the minds of all voters and that rural Minnesotans turn out in large numbers for the hockey mom.

5) New Hampshire - McCain's "Maverick" label seems to play well up there so pray this state rewards him for his independent streak when they pull the levers in their voting booths.

6) Pray that Florida remains a Red State and that Palin's large turnout of 60,000 people for a rally in the Orlando area will spark more interest in her and her running mate.

7) Ohio - Pray that conservative, pro-life Ohioans turn out in large numbers and that the Republicans have a superior Get Out the Vote effort.

These are just suggestions of how to pray about the election. I realize they don't guarantee victory. But a good, honest prayer never hurts.

My older sister (and only sister), Robin, starts 8 weeks of radiation treatment today for uterine cancer. My son's favorite aunt, Robin is the favorite person of almost every child I know. Her name is also one of my son's favorite words to say. God has gifted her with a special love for children that oozes out of every pore of her body. She has already battled through 6 weeks of chemotherapy. Her spirits remain high and our prayers are with her.

Quote #3

"People never say "Its only a game" when they're winning
OH so true!

Saturday, September 20, 2008

Sen. Obama is leading in most of the presidential election polls these days. As of Saturday (9/20/08) Rasmussen has him up by one over Sen. McCain, and as of Friday (9/19/08) Gallup has him up by 5. This is discouraging. However, while NoBama leads in the general election polls, McCain is making some headway in individual state polls. And ultimately, with the electoral college deciding our next president, these are the numbers that matter. Currently, McCain is competitive in a number of "blue" states such as Minnesota, Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania. The race is also tight in Ohio, Virginia, Colorado and New Mexico. Depending on which polls you refer to, and there are so dang many of them, the McCain-Palin ticket is even leading in some of these states. McCain absolutely has to hold on to all of the states that President Bush won in 2004, and Ohio may once again prove to be the deciding factor. I am hopeful that adding Palin to the ticket, as an Alaskan, will help in western outdoorsy states like Colorado and New Mexico. And her love of guns and hunting may help in agrarian areas of states like Minnesota and Wisconsin that have large rural communities that thrive on guns and God. Let's hope these purple states bleed red in November.

If quitters never win and winners never quit, who came up with "Quit while you're ahead?"

This was a very beautiful picture I found and put in the sidebar. You can hardly see how beautiful it is in that small pic, so I decided to post it also.

A Remembrance

As you can see to your left (in the sidebar) I have added a few additions to the page, it is all part of the new and improved Mrs MM page. Yes, for those of you that might not get it that funky thing close to the top is a clock. I like it, I think it is unique, just like me, ha ha ha. One thing that has not changed on this page is the template, because I love the ocean and it is the closest I could get to it and my little angel/firefighter. That picture has been up here since the beginning and it will always be there as a constant reminder to the firefighters and other authority that were lost on that fateful day in 2001. Not to discount the other lives but that picture represents specific as the 09/11/08 picture below represents for everyone else. I am still in the process of searching for a more complete photo for the sidebar to represent that day and the lives lost. One thing I have noticed is that people do want to remember on 09/11/01 but I want to represent by remembering everyday! On my desk at work I have an American Flag poster that says We Will Never Forget September 11 , 2001. It has been on my desk since those early days and months after the attacks and has not moved. These are little things that I think are important that should stand out to this day and everyday to remind people why we are fighting this war. Why President Bush is a great and brave man and doesn't deserve the attacks on him and same for John McCain and Governor Palin. These are the type of people we need to continue to keep in office because this is a war that needs to be fought and won. As long as there are terrorist out there the war is not over.

Welcoming Guest Blogger

MR. MM has decided to hang up his blogging hat, but did agree to be a guest blogger on this site. See his post below.
WELCOME MR MM to my little world of Blogging!
Today's quirky contemplation:
Why do we drive on a parkway but park in a driveway?

Meet the Robinsons

This election season has reminded me of my passion for the pro-life position (Go Palin!). So it was especially rewarding when the Mrs. and I watched the Disney animated feature "Meet the Robinsons" last weekend. The plot of the film is a bizarre, time-travel story that was a little hard to follow. But the movie's ending makes it all worthwhile. I must admit I became a bit teary-eyed when the story unfolded with a very strong pro-life and pro-adoption message. I would highly recommend it for families who have a heart for the pro-life position and want to help install it in the hearts of their children.

I noticed a few months ago there was a blog out there that was titled Media Matters and it is extreme leftist webpage. I have changed the name of this blog and my title because I don't want people(not that anyone really reads me) to associate this blog with that one. This blog is a:
A supporter of the conservative movement. I know my loyal readers know this but others might not.
Welcome to the new MRS MM page!

Truth, Justice, and the Conservative Mission

I consider myself to be a brave citizen fighting for truth, justice, and the conservative mission, driving around sporting my McCain/Palin bumper stickers on my car. Why brave, I live and work in a city surrounded by liberal buffoons. I guarantee the Obama 08 stickers out number me. Funny thing is I haven't seen a lot of those either, but definitely more than McCain/Palin. It's kind of like me driving around with my DENVER BRONCOS decals on my car too, I also am stuck in Raider Nation! Both LIBERAL Buffoons and RAIDERS fans are a scary bunch, but I will continue to stand out in the crowd. Lucky I do see a few other Broncos fans out there with me though. By the way if you happened to watch Sunday's game, don't blame the Broncos, it was the ref's bad calls. Lucky us though! :)

My many thanks go out to all that have posted about the wonderful joy in our lives.

Andrea Shea King at The Radio Patriot

Melanie Morgan who referenced Dave's site about his post

and also this site special families

I am very small fish in this very large ocean of the blogoshpere thanks to all that read my posts.

Parker is a blessing and joy in our lives that will never diminish(but ask me again when he is a teenager and defiant on everything :), I might change my mind slightly). You know when I was pregnant with Parker I never even thought he would be anything other than perfect to us. Yes, there were concerns but I always believed it was going to be OK. Even as my husband and I constantly run from appt to appt on a weekly basis(daddy more than me, I lost one of my appts due to his therapist moved on) for him, WE don't consider it a burden. Parker thrives today and is a healthy, happy, and stereotypical 2 year old. OH so STUBBORN! He is a climber and a jumper and a yeller and has boundless energy. Sounds like a typical 2 year old to me. Yes, he has Cerebral Palsy, it mainly effects the left side of his body to where he turns out is left foot and he is weak on that side. (All the therapy he has helps.) This all stemmed from poor development of his brain in-utero. The right side of his brain is under- developed by 25- 50% this means he is missing that much of his brain. You know what, it hasn't slowed him down one bit. I believe he has trained other parts of his brain to compensate for what's not there. I love when he sings the ABC song. He is 2 and can identify his letters and numbers to 9 but can count to 13. He is very bright! OH! and a boy after his Mother's heart, loves FOOTBALL! I got him to say "GO BRONCOS"

Here is a picture I just took and as you can see it is a little blurry, trying to keep this boy still, Good Luck! Football on in the background, can we say YAY for NFL Playback and DVR!

On observance of Patriot Day, we remember and honor those who perished in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. We will not forget the events of that terrible morning nor will we forget how Americans responded in New York City, at the Pentagon, and in the skies over Pennsylvania(AND STILL FIGHT TODAY) -- with heroism and selflessness; with compassion and courage; and with prayer and hope. Those whom we lost on September 11 will forever hold a cherished place in our hearts and in the history of our Nation. As we mark the 7th anniversary of that tragic day, we remember their sacrifice; and we commit ourselves to honoring their memory by pursuing peace and justice in the world and security at home.

"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."
The Pledge of Allegiance was written in 1892 by Francis Bellamy
Time line of that morning for the planes into the World Trade Center:
8:46 Eastern time the first plane hit the first tower
9:03 Eastern time the second plane hit the other tower
9:59 Eastern the first tower collapsed
10:29 Eastern the second tower collapsed.
I remember the towers collapsing very clearly. At 6:59 west coast time I was just entering the freeway on my way to work glued to our local news radio station(because my step mom had called me about 6:00 to tell me "we are under attack") and remembering the horror of hearing the tower collapsed and 30 minutes later I was just hitting the exit to my work and I heard the second tower had collapsed. No one in our office I believe worked that day. Radios and TV were on everywhere.

Biscuits anyone!

Not if your a carb hating weirdo and think that eating no carbs is really the best diet. Found this article on biscuits, I like biscuits. I have a recipe I like to use for cheddar biscuits that are really good. The article is to see which fast food biscuits stand up to Grandma's.

Very interesting! Never been to chick-fil-a, but they got an A+. They are by my office. I will have to check it out.

A Reflection

Someone questioned me on my statement:
Working Middle Class Mom's of Disabled Children for Sarah Palin
They asked me what has she done for disabled children in Alaska. Well I guess that is a good question. Nothing that I am aware of. My question is what does that have to do with stating who "I" am and what I believe in? To me this is not about what she has done(she has done a lot per record good and maybe even bad) it is what she stands for. I have not heard empty promises out of her mouth that I have heard from the other side. I have faith in the fact that she can help bring about the change that some in this country crave.

How Dumb Can They Be?

You know I was listening to Laura Ingrahm(sp?) this morning and she is funny. I really don't listen to talk shows that much, I do listen to Rush the most. She was talking about Sally Quinn (was that right?) Well she is just crazy lady numero uno! Anyway my question is; does the left really understand how stupid they sound? I guess the answer is "no". In this day of modern technology with DVR's, cell phones with camera and video, and just plain recording devices, how can you not expect what you said before to come back and bite you? Whether it be something that you contradicted yourself on or just plain women shouldn't work who have babies! I happen to be a woman with a career that has a family. My son is 2 years and 4 months and he has Cerebral Palsy(by the way he is thriving) My daughter is 19 and is in junior college, and I have a husband also. Well we happen to live in this great BLUE state of California(not great just in case you didn't get that sarcasm) and if I didn't work we couldn't live. I do happen to make more than my husband salary wise also, but how dare someone say because I have a career I shouldn't have a baby or children. I am in no way a feminist, I can't stand that movement, but I do support women working and having a family. How can you not? My husband and I could not afford to live on one salary thanks to the left and causing all the problems that lead to higher taxes, higher inflation, and higher cost of living in general. I'm sure if I did all the research, I could back up my claims, but I don't have time to get into that now. Let me ask you this, did you enjoy cashing that tax rebate check? I sure did. It helps. I can tell you that you won't see that again if a liberal runs the country. They are all about raising our taxes to cure their bad spending habits.

***Update...... I can not stand Oprah, and she won't have Palin on her show because she doesn't cater to politicians. Please, Oprah is such a "me, me, me" and a phony. She certainly did make herself prominate at the DNC and pratically wet herself falling all over Obama!

Palin for President cont....

OK there is a lot to cover in this post. Let's start with Governor Palin's speech last night.
OUTSTANDING!!! I do not understand why some people(Mr Media Matters) did not like her talking about her family. I liked it because it just introduced her to the world that way. One of my favorite comments from her was her always being proud of her country. Unlike the empty and bitter Michelle Obama who six months ago was proud of her country for the first time and then when she was addressing the DNC she said she has always been proud of her country. Whatever! The libs have been hit hard and Rush says he doesn't think they realize how hard yet! I agree. OK on to my actual subject for this post. I am not a political person because I really don't understand Government and Politics that well. Here is what I do understand and why I choose to be a Republican!

People want to kill us:
"Fight back and capture terrorists to protect our country"

How do you coexist with people that want to kill us?

Alternative fuel sources"
"Drill for oil in our own country and have less dependency on foreign oil" Tape into our own natural resources.
"Pay terrorists to supply our fuel"

Helping other countries
"Liberate a country from dictatorship and tyranny and fight a global war on terror"
"Feed starving people in Africa and talk peace with terrorists"

"Supply tax rebates and not raise taxes to stimulate the economy"
"Punish the rich for being rich and raise taxes and then say that but actually tax other things to punish the middle class also" No tax rebates and no real economic solutions.

This is funny also, all the Hollywood elite support Obama but he wants to punish them and raise their taxes. That makes sense.

If this makes sense to you, good, then I am not totally lost on it. If you have something to add please feel free.

Palin for President!!!!

OK maybe not so dramatic. I can no longer keep quiet on this issue. I love her and she is perfect for the job. I agree with Rush. "We are not in this to take names and have peace talk" "We want to kick butt" This is what Governor Palin is going to do "KICK BUTT" . The attacks on her are ridiculous and empty. Why is Obama comparing his experience to hers. Last time I looked they weren't running for the same job. She has more experience in her little finger than he does period. Palin is our All-American woman and the woman for the job.
